Baazigar (1993)

In Abbas-Mustan’s Baazigar, Shah Rukh Khan portrayed the character of Ajay Sharma, a young man seeking revenge for his father’s death, which he blames on a wealthy tycoon Madan Chopra (Dalip Tahil). To exact his revenge, Ajay manipulates and deceives those around him, including his love interest, played by Shilpa Shetty and her sister, played by Kajol. Shah Rukh Khan’s portrayal of the morally ambiguous anti-hero garnered widespread praise and showcased his versatility as an actor.

Darr (1993)

This Yash Chopra directed film saw Shah Rukh Khan play Rahul Mehra, an obsessive and mentally unstable young man who becomes infatuated with Kiran, played by Juhi Chawla. Rahul’s unhealthy obsession leads him to stalk and harass Kiran and her fiancé, played by Sunny Deol. Shah Rukh Khan’s portrayal of the antagonist Rahul earned him critical acclaim for his chilling performance.

Anjaam (1994)

This was Shah Rukh Khan’s third negative role in a span of around five months. In this Rahul Rawail directed film, he played the role of Vijay Agnihotri, a wealthy and psychopathic businessman who becomes obsessed with a woman named Shivani, played by Madhuri Dixit. When Shivani rejects his advances, Vijay’s obsession turns into a deadly vendetta, leading him to commit increasingly violent and deranged acts. SRK’s portrayal of the antagonist Vijay was acclaimed for its intensity and unpredictability.

Don (2006)

In Farhan Akhtar’s Don, Shah Rukh Khan took on the iconic role of Don, a cunning and ruthless underworld kingpin. The film followed Don’s attempts to evade capture by law enforcement while manipulating his enemies and allies alike. Shah Rukh Khan’s portrayal of the suave and charismatic anti-hero received praise for its modern interpretation of the classic character and his ability to capture Don’s complex persona. The film also him play a double role as he also played the simpleton Vijay, the lookalike of Don.

Don 2 (2011)

In the sequel to Don, Shah Rukh Khan reprised his role as the enigmatic criminal mastermind Don. In Don 2, Don plans a daring heist in Europe while facing threats from both law enforcement and rival criminals. Shah Rukh Khan’s performance as the cunning and charismatic anti-hero continued to captivate audiences, cementing his portrayal of Don as one of his most iconic roles.
