Singer-composer Akhil Sachdeva recently shared insights into the journey of his song Tere Mere Darmiyaan from conception to its release in Sabarmati Report. He revealed that this song has a deep personal significance for him.

In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, Akhil described Tere Mere Darmiyaan as “one of the most special melodies” he has ever created. He recalled, “‘Tere Mere Darmiyaan’ will always be one of the most special song or special melody that I made, for a reason, that I made it in 2015 the very next day I composed Sun Maryam Sakha. The next day, ‘Tere Mere Darmiyaan’ was the basic seed was born in 2015 right after the next day, when I composed, ‘Sun Mere Humsafar’ for Badrinath Ki Dulhania, which came in Badrinath Ki Dulhaniyaa. But the next day, the next night, I sat again, and I was in that zone, and I started composing. And then ‘Tere Mere Darmiyaan,’ the melody and the hook line came though.”
Reflecting on his long-standing association with the track, Akhil said, “Ekta Kapoor ko maine sunaya tha yeh gaana or and she’s been in love with this song since that time. And she took that song from me, almost like seven years back, 2017 around, I think she heard it, and then she took the song, and she always wanted to use it in a right film, in a right way.”
Akhil expressed his joy at seeing the song resonate with audiences. “I’m glad it came in The Sabarmati Report, which being a very special and a unique film on its own, in its own way. So ‘Tere Mere Darmiyaan’ to come out in a special film. And I’m glad people have loved it. And it’s one of those facts which will be loved again and again, and again, again and again. Not that it just got released. So it will be loved at a certain point of time. It’s an evergreen melody, and the emotions are pretty strong. The writing is pretty strong, yet simple. So I’m just happy the way it’s turned out to be.”
