Boney Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor inaugurate ‘Sridevi Kapoor Chowk’ as an emotional tribute in Mumbai : Bollywood News
The late actress Sridevi was honored with a chowk (road junction) named after her in Lokhandwala, Mumbai. The unveiling took place on Saturday evening during Dussehra, with her husband, Boney Kapoor, and daughter, Khushi Kapoor, visibly emotional during the ceremony. Actress Shabana Azmi also attended the event.

Boney and Khushi inaugurated the chowk as a tribute to Sridevi, with images and videos from the occasion circulating on social media. A video shared by a paparazzo on Instagram shows Boney unveiling a cloth covering Sridevi’s portrait, touching the image while Khushi stands beside him, sharing in the emotional moment. The commemorative stone reads “Sridevi Kapoor Chowk.”
The inauguration of the chowk took place on October 12 at 6 PM, with Shabana Azmi present to lend her support. This chowk is situated at a junction close to Sridevi’s longtime home, Green Acres Tower, where she lived for many years until her passing in 2018. The location holds significant sentimental value, and Boney and Khushi appeared overwhelmed by the turnout at the event. Notably, Janhvi Kapoor was absent from the inauguration.
Sridevi, born Shree Amma Yanger Ayyapan in 1963 in Chennai, began acting at a young age and gained fame across multiple film industries, including Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada. She married producer Boney Kapoor in 1996 and welcomed two daughters, Janhvi and Khushi, in 1997 and 2000, respectively.
On February 24, 2018, Sridevi was discovered dead in a hotel bathtub in Dubai while attending a family wedding, where she accidentally drowned. Since her passing, Janhvi Kapoor has openly discussed her mother in numerous interviews, and both sisters are continuing Sridevi’s legacy through their acting careers. Janhvi recently appeared in her first Telugu film, Devara: Part 1, while Khushi made her debut in the OTT film The Archies.
