Eva Grover recently opened up about her turbulent marriage to Hyder Ali Khan, stepbrother of Bollywood actor Aamir Khan. In a candid interview on the podcast Coffee Unfiltered, the actress spoke about the abuse she endured during their five-year marriage and the emotional toll it took on her.

“I had all the happiness in the world, I was doing very well. But that was not just what I wanted. I wanted a home, a loving husband, and loving kids. I wanted to be a homemaker. But instead of achieving this dream of mine, I got everything else. I had a love marriage, we eloped and got married in 18 days,” Eva recalled.

Challenges of an Inter-Faith Marriage

Eva Grover’s marriage to Hyder Ali Khan began with excitement and optimism, despite opposition from her family. “My mother didn’t want me to marry him since it was an inter-faith relationship, so we ran away from home. But by the fourth day, I realized that if this is what marriage is, why does the institute even exist?” she said.

She described how, over time, the marriage became strained and abusive. “That marriage lasted for about five years and there were only problems. I tried my best that my home didn’t break. I had a child so that my marriage could get saved. But nothing happened. I guess he wasn’t mature enough to take that kind of responsibility. He was Aamir Khan’s stepbrother, but he was a very different person from who I had dated. It was one of the most abusive marriages,” she shared.

Losing Custody of Her Daughter

Eva Grover’s emotional struggle didn’t end with her divorce. She also lost custody of her daughter, Nishtha Khan, when the child was just three years old. “The divorce thankfully happened, but my daughter lived with me until she was 3 years old. One day I came back from a shoot and asked my mother where my daughter was, and she said she gave her to her father. I lost my daughter and didn’t get to see her for 10 years,” she revealed.

Eva explained how, despite her efforts to support her in-laws financially, she struggled with depression and loneliness during that difficult period. “I was going through depression, with too much anger and questions in my head. I had no one to talk to.”

Despite her personal challenges, Eva Grover continued to build a successful acting career. In addition to her role in Bade Acche Lagte Hai, she appeared in Salman Khan’s Ready and other popular shows such as Karishma Ka Karishma, Kora Kagaz, and Bidaai.
