Kamal Haasan recently appeared for an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama to discuss his upcoming film Hindustani 2. In this sequel to the 1996 hit Hindustani, Kamal Haasan reprises his role as Senapathy, an ex-freedom fighter turned vigilante who fights against corruption. Senapathy returns to the country to help a young man who has been exposing corrupt politicians.

EXCLUSIVE: Kamal Haasan opens up on late Mr. Bishu Da’s appreciation for his work; says, “I think that moment is a genuine moment”

Kamal Haasan reflected on who gives him a reality check if needed and said, “I am grateful to be living in today’s time, because I don’t have to do a sample test. I just can be that invisible man. Thanks to internet. I can see the world which Bachchan Sahab is now living to see that but Dilip Kumar Sahab never had this opportunity. Shivaji sahab never had this opportunity. I can go into huts even where politicians don’t go. I think I am living in perfect time unlike Stanislavski. I can prepare on internet. An actor prepares on internet.”

Kamal Haasan further expressed on how late Mr. Bishu Da appreciated his word. He said, “The best part is not the audience talking about it but when I see late Mr Bishu Da, he used to call me once in three years and he’ll say, ‘What a picture’ and I think he is talking about a recent release and I said what was a recent release, probably he saw it late and he’s talking about a film which we made together 30 years back. He has rewatched it and he’s equally excited. I think that moment is a genuine moment. He’s not selling, he’s not buying, he’s not casting for any film. He simply saw it and he is reliving it like an old photograph. Like You see yourself as a child or enjoying yourself so much. That is my favourite moment.”

Directed by S Shankar, Hindustani 2 also stars Siddharth, Rakul Preet Singh and Kajal Aggarwal in pivotal roles. The film is all set to release Pan-India on July 12.
