EXCLUSIVE: Sanjay Kapoor says he got into production to keep himself busy and his “kitchen running” after Luck By Chance : Bollywood News

Ever since his release in 1995, Sanjay Kapoor graced the silver screen every year with a new release until his 2009 release, Luck By Chance. Post that, he not only appeared on the screen rarely but also started venturing into production. Recently, in an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Sanjay opened up about focusing on production for a couple of years rather than doing acting.

Recalling the success of Luck By Chance, Kapoor confessed that post the release, he got a lot of offers. However, by that time, he started picking projects mindfully and rejected the idea of doing films that he didn’t want to be a part of. Thus, until his comeback in 2014, he started producing films to keep himself “busy”.

Kapoor asserted, “I got into production because this is the only thing I know and which I love. Obviously acting is my first love and that’s the reason Lust Stories became a hit. I mean my work was appreciated. Then I did a show called Dil Sambhalja Zara for television which was a huge success too. I have not produced a film since that because I’m extremely busy doing whether it was The Last Hour, which came on Amazon or whether it was Sleeping Partner or The Fame Game or The Gone Game. That kept me busy and today all these projects are there.”

He further explained, “I got into production I did two films I did It’s My Life DAnees Bazmee as the director with Nana (Patekar), Herman (Baweja) and Genelia (D’souza) and then I did Tevar with Arjun (Kapoor) and Sonakshi (Sinha). That kept me busy, and that kept my kitchen running because you have to feed yourself, you have to feed your family. So I had to do that.”

On the professional front, the 57-year-old actor will be next seen in Bloody Daddy, which is slated to release on June 9 on JioCinema. The Shahid Kapoor starrer is helmed by Ali Abbas Zafar and also features Ronit Boseroy, Rajiv Khandelwal, and Diana Penty.
