The 55th International Film Festival of India 2024 Goa had its final day today, November 28. The closing ceremony was held at Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium which was attended by more than 4000 people. As expected, several members of the film industry were also present.

The award ceremony was a memorable affair. Vikrant Massey was honoured with the Indian Film Personality Of The Year award. He said, “I used to come to IFFI as a cinema lover. I never imagined that I’ll get so much love and respect. As we said in 12th Fail (2023), restart karna bahut zaroori hai as there will be ups and downs in life. Don’t give up in life.”
He added, “A middle class person dreams of earning Rs. 1 lakh a month. I also wanted to do the same so that my family members can say ‘Yeh thoda successful ho gaya’. But God gave me much more than I expected. It’s thanks to the audience who have supported me since my TV days.”
When asked about tips to aspiring actors, Vikrant Massey answered, “I see across coming from small towns get intimidated when they come to Mumbai. They should own themselves. Aap kitne yogya hai yeh aapke kapde ya aapki angrezi decide nahin karegi! The Indian Film industry is spectacular. If you work hard and are talented, they will accept you with open arms!”
Pushpa 2 promotions
Rashmika Mandanna and producer Y Ravi Shankar graced the event to promote their much awaited film Pushpa 2. Allu Arjun was also scheduled to attend but had to cancel at the last moment.
Rashmika Mandanna said, “Allu Arjun sir, Sukumar sir, DSP sir and our DOP are sitting in Hyderabad and working restlessly without sleep in order to deliver the best possible product to you. In their absence, we both are here. I hope we can make up for it by even 10%!”
Y Ravi Kumar said, “The swag and attitude of the hero will be multiplied. We have a beautiful story. It would definitely be a fabulous film.”
Rashmika Mandanna added, “All of you must be thinking that Pushpa 2 will be a full action driven cinema but it is an extremely emotional ride. There’s a family story angle which forms the majority portion of Pushpa 2. So, as much as you guys are waiting for Pushpa’s swag and Pushpa’s action, also look forward to the emotional drama.”
Other memorable aspects
The event began with the performance by Bandish Bandits team. Amaal Mallik rocked the show with his performance. Pratik Gandhi raised laughs as he showed how his Scam 1992 character Harshad Mehta would have romanced. Ramesh Sippy was honoured and he spoke about Sholay completing 50 years next year. Lastly, Shriya Saran did a Pan-India dance performance and ended it on a patriotic note.
The chief minister of Goa, Dr Pramod Sawant, and Sanjay Jaju, Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, also attended the closing ceremony.
