Kanguva press conference at Miraj IMAX Wadala: Suriya BREAKS silence on Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Karna: "It’s a film which needs a lot of time…"
The press conference of Kanguva was held in Mumbai in Miraj IMAX Wadala. The event started more than two hours late and moreover, Bobby Deol and music director Devi Sri Prasad, who were supposed to attend, couldn’t make it, irking the mediapersons. However, the exclusive glimpse of the assets in 3D along with the answers given by the attendees – Suriya, director Siva, producer K E Gnanavel Raja of Studio Green and Jayantilal Gada of PEN India Ltd – made up for the shortcomings.
During the question-and-answer session with the media, Suriya was asked whether he had signed Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s mythological film, Karna. Suriya confessed, “We definitely had a meeting. We are still discussing it. It’s a film which needs a lot of time and a lot of prep. So, it’s in process. I am hoping that some day, we can go on floors.”
Suriya recently shifted to Mumbai and he was asked if he’s getting more offers from Hindi film producers. The dashing actor smiled and remarked, “They would have definitely approached me even if I was in Chennai. I balance between both Chennai and Mumbai.”
About his life in Mumbai, he replied, “It feels great here. I can’t say anything (bad) about Mumbai as it’s my mother-in-law’s place! I am getting a lot of love here. I am happy that my children are settled well here and go to school in Mumbai. Life is good and we are happy to have taken this decision (of moving to Mumbai).”
Suriya added, “Also, it’s really nice to meet a lot more people here. If I was in Chennai, the meetings wouldn’t have been so often. Here, I am able to meet a lot of wonderful people, from the film industry and also otherwise.”
Jayantilal Gada stole the show as he said, “We backed Kanguva before it went on floors. I spoke to my team. I didn’t know director Siva ji. So, I asked my team, ‘How many flops has Siva delivered?’. They told me, ‘None’. That’s when I said, ‘Toh fir Gnanavel ji jo bana rahen hai, uss film ke liye paise dete raho’!”
Kanguva releases in cinemas on November 14.
