Neelam Kothari recalls working with Chunky Panday in Aag Hi Aag: “I wanted to kill him” : Bollywood News
Neelam Kothari, a well-known figure in Bollywood, has captivated audiences with her remarkable performances in numerous hit Hindi films. Over her career, she has shared the screen with prominent actors such as Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Govinda, Saif Ali Khan, and Chunky Panday. In a recent conversation, she reminisced about working with Chunky Panday in the 1987 film Aag Hi Aag.

In an interview with Radio Nasha, Neelam said, “Chunky is a very good friend today. And he was a good friend back then too, but there were days when I just wanted to kill him. He used to irritate me on set because he was a newcomer. He took his own sweet time. ‘The shot is ready, cameras are set, but where’s Chunky Panday?’ Chunky Panday’s in the bathroom. This didn’t happen just once, but many times, and I just wanted to kill him.”
She added, “There was a scene in Aag Hi Aag where I was getting married to someone else, and Chunky was supposed to come on a bike, pick me up from the mandap, and ride away. I must have asked him 10 times if he knew how to ride a bike, and he kept saying, ‘Of course.’ He didn’t know he was joking. So, he picked me up on the bike and pushed the accelerator so hard that it did a wheelie, and I was in bridal attire. I fell off, and the bike landed on top of me. I burned my leg and everything. I wanted to kill him. I still have that scar on my leg, and I still remind Chunky that I have it for life because of him.”
In the same interview, Kothari reminisced about her collaboration with Aamir Khan in the 1991 romantic drama Afsana Pyar Ka. She fondly recalled filming the popular track ‘Tip Tip’, which was completed in just three days. She said, “Sweetness was in the simplicity back then. And Aamir was amazing to work with. He was very, very particular about his scenes and performances. He would say, ‘Let’s do one more shot’ because he is that particular.”
Neelam made her return to the entertainment industry with her appearance in the reality series Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives, available on Netflix. In the show, she shared the spotlight with fellow stars Maheep Kapoor, Bhavna Pandey, and Seema Kiran Sajdeh across two exciting seasons. The recently released third season, now titled Fabulous Lives vs. Bollywood Wives, introduced new faces, including Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, sister of actor Ranbir Kapoor, art collector Shalini Passi, and entrepreneur Kalyani Saha Chawla, who is well-connected in the Bollywood circle.
