Producer Pahlaj Nihalani, a close friend of Govinda, visited the actor last evening in hospital. Govinda accidently shot himself in his leg two days ago.

Pahlaj Nihalani on reports of Govinda being able to talk, “Goli paon mein lagi hai, mooh mein nahin”

Nihalani has encouraging news for Govinda’s fans. Said the prolific producer, “I met him in the hospital last evening. He was his normal cheerful self. He should be out of the hospital in a day, maximum two days after which he will rest it out at home.”

What was Govinda doing with a loaded, albeit supposedly licenced, gun in his house? And how could it just go off like that?

Govinda’s friend and producer Pahlaj Nihalani, the two of them have practically grown up together in the film industry, has no explanation. “I agree I am a close friend, and when I heard the news, my heart sank. Lekin main Govinda kya karte hain, kyon karte…. iska jawaab mere paas nahin hai. He doesn’t listen to anyone and I am not privy to his actions.”

However, Pahlaj confesses he cares deeply for his friend. “If anything happens, I would be the first to reach. I tried calling Govinda. Then I called his secretary Shashi who informed me that Govinda is likely to be discharged this evening. I will go to his home once he is back.”

Pahlaj recalled the tragedy that befell the Sadanah family one fateful Diwali night when filmmaker Brij Sadanah, in a drunken fit, killed his wife and daughter. “If he didn’t have a private gun, none of that would have happened. One has to be very, very careful with ammunition at home. Luckily Govinda ko kuch bhi nahin hua. Lekin bahot kuch ho sakta tha.”

Speaking of shooting himself in the foot, some time ago Govinda had claimed that James Cameron had offered him a role Avatar. Pahlaj Nihalani clarified that the actor had confused Cameron’s Avatar with an incomplete film of that title which he had shot with Pahlaj.

When asked what Govinda had to say about the freak accident Nihalani shrugged, “We didn’t speak about that. I was just happy to see him happy and normal. There are all kinds of speculative reports about Govinda’s health. Someone says he was “able to talk”. Arrey bhai, what do you mean by he was able to talk? Why wouldn’t he be able to talk? Goli paon mein lagi hai, mooh mein nahin. I request his so-called friends to stop giving misleading alarmist reports. Govinda is fine, very normal and looking forward to returning home.”
