The winter session of the parliament began today. For the first day, 3 bills are listed for final consideration and passing. In the Lok Sabha, the Banking Laws (Amendment) Bill and the Railways (Amendment) Bill, 2024 will be discussed. In Rajya Sabha, the Bhartiya Vayuyan Vidheyak, 2024 will be talked about. 16 bills will likely be addressed during the winter session until December 20. The Session will provide 19 sittings spread over a period of 26 days.

Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha proceedings adjourned for day. The house will meet again on Wednesday. There will be no sitting of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha on November 26 to commemorate Constitution Day.

Lok Sabha Adjourned Till 12 PM
Lok Sabha adjourned till 12 pm after tributes paid to departed members of the House.
The Prime Minister concluded by expressing hope for a productive session, stressing that healthy discussions are essential to address the nation’s pressing concerns. “The voters of India are committed to democracy, their loyalty to the Constitution, and their confidence in the parliamentary system. Everyone in Parliament needs to reflect the sentiments of the people. To achieve this, we must discuss various aspects of each topic constructively. This will inspire future generations as well. I hope this session proves to be productive, and I encourage all esteemed MPs to approach it with passion and enthusiasm,” he said.
Reflecting on India’s growing prominence on the global stage, PM Modi said, “The world looks at India with hope. At such a crucial time, our discussions in Parliament can further enhance India’s standing before the world. India rarely gets opportunities like this, and it is our duty to ensure that the trust voters place in democracy and the Constitution is upheld through meaningful work in Parliament.” He urged all members to make up for lost time and engage in substantive debates on critical issues.”A message should go out that the dedication of voters to democracy, the Constitution, and the sanctity of parliamentary proceedings is being honoured by their elected representatives,” he said.
“The most painful thing is that the new parliamentarians bring new ideas and new energy and they do not belong to any one party but to all parties. Some people usurp their rights and they do not even get the opportunity to speak in the House,” PM Modi said. “Those rejected 80-90 times by people do not allow discussions to take place in the Parliament. They neither respect the spirit of democracy nor do they understand the importance of people’s aspirations. They have no responsibility towards them. They are unable to understand them and the result is that they never live up to people’s expectations.”
“Few People Have Self-Centered Agenda”: PM Modi Attacks Opposition
Prime Minister Narendra Modi attacked the opposition in his address ahead of the beginning of the winter session of the Parliament. “Opposition blinded by self-centered agenda,” he said. Hitting out at the opposition, he said, for their political gain, a handful of people, are constantly trying to control the Parliament by creating disorder. Their aim is only to stall the house, he added. “The people of the country count all their actions and when the time comes, they also punish them.”
PM Modi Addresses Ahead Of Parliament Winter Session
Prime Minister Narendra Modi addresses the nation ahead of the Parliament Winter session starting today. “It has been 75 years since we adopted the constitution,” he says, hoping for
“healthy debates” and participation and contribution from maximum members of the parliament.
Lok Sabha members attending the Winter Session of Parliament will have the option of marking their attendance using a digital pen on an electronic tab. Electronic tabs will be kept at four counters in the lobby of the Lok Sabha chamber as part of Speaker Om Birla’s initiative to make Parliament paperless.
“Physical attendance registers will continue to be kept at the counters. However, members are advised to use the tab as a preferred choice and help make Parliament paperless,” the Lok Sabha Secretariat said.
Earlier, Lok Sabha members marked their attendance using a mobile app.

Parliament Winter Session Update: No Sitting On November 26
There will be no sitting of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha on November 26 to commemorate “Constitution Day.” The government will be celebrating the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of India by the Constituent Assembly in 1949.
Parliament Winter Session Update: Government Meets Floor Leaders
Ahead of the beginning of the winter session of Parliament, the government met floor leaders of all political parties. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said that the government is “always ready to discuss on the floor of the House, any issue as permitted under the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business by respective Presiding Officers.” He also requested all party leaders for active cooperation and support for the smooth functioning of the two Houses of Parliament.
