Raveena Tandon questions Bollywood’s efficiency; says, “Why do you need so many people?” : Bollywood News

Raveena Tandon, best known as a Hindi cinema performer, has appeared in numerous South films over her career. In a recent interview, Raveena recounted working on the 1995 film Taqdeerwala, produced by Hyderabad-based Suresh Productions, and stated that budget limits in the south forced them to be more efficient with their resources, which was not always the case in Hindi cinema.

In an interview with YouTube channel Rajshri Unplugged, Raveena revealed that she and co-star Venkatesh were meant to shoot five songs in Mauritius for Taqdeerwala, but they only went with a crew of nine people, which she found pretty unexpected. “We shot five songs in Mauritius with a crew of only 9 people, no light men, no generators, no lights, nothing. They shot the songs with two baby lights and only reflectors, the ones with the silver foil. That’s how all the songs were shot and you look at the quality of those songs,” the actor recalled.

Raveena Tandon also remembered that these songs were shot by cinematographer K Ravindra Babu. “I can never forget that,” she said. Taqdeerwala was a remake of the Telugu film Yamaleela, directed by K Murali Mohana Rao.

Raveena then recalled that while she was shooting for Hindi films, the worldwide outdoor crew numbered around 200 individuals, which made her wonder why so many people were required for the same job that could be done by just nine people. “When I would shoot in Mumbai and we would go for outdoors from here, to Switzerland or some other place, 200 people would go along. I used to say why do you need so many people when we can do all of this work with 10 people?” she recalled.

According to Raveena Tandon, teams from the south “used to work so effortlessly and effectively on a low budget and doing great work”. Raveena made her Kannada film debut in 2022 with KGF: Chapter 2. The third chapter of the film franchise was revealed at the time, but further details are yet needed.
