Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali has often spoken of his connection with actress Deepika Padukone. Their collaborative journey, marked by critically acclaimed films like Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, Bajirao Mastani, and Padmaavat, is a testament to their artistic synergy. In a recent interview, Bhansali recalled their initial meeting, a moment that left a lasting impression.

“When I met Deepika when I went to her house for the first time, she opened the door,” he shared. “I froze by the beauty of the woman, by the eyes, when I realized that there’s so much of subtlety, so much of fragility, there’s so much of beauty. She started talking, and I realized her voice was beautiful.”

This initial encounter was a turning point for Bhansali. He recognized in Deepika a raw talent, a potential that he believed could be nurtured and shaped into something extraordinary. “Then I realized I was at the right place at the right time because I knew this girl would be moulded, would be taken somewhere. It’s your instinct of how you connect. Your soul has to connect to their soul,” he continued.

Their last collaboration, Padmaavat, was a historical epic that explored themes of love, honour, and sacrifice. The film also starred Ranveer Singh, Shahid Kapoor and Aditi Rao Hydari.

Meanwhile, Deepika Padukone is now gearing up for Singham Again, helmed by Rohit Shetty. The film also stars Ajay Devgn, Ranveer Singh, Tiger Shroff, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Jackie Shroff, Akshay Kumar, and Arjun Kapoor. It is set for Diwali 2024 release.
