Yash, the popular star of Kannada cinema, has recently been making headlines regarding being casted in Ramayan as Ravan and his fans eagerly await the announcement of his next film. Amidst the anticipation for Yash 19, rumours surfaced that he had been approached to portray the character of Ravan in Nitesh Tiwari’s adaptation of Ramayan, produced by Madhu Mantena. Nevertheless, sources from the Kannada film industry reportedly informed Indiatoday.in that these rumours were untrue, stating that Yash would not consider taking on a negative role in his career at this stage.

Sources indicate that Yash is well aware of the expectations his fans have of him, and currently, they may not be open to seeing him portray a negative character. The source stated, “Yash is very mindful of what his fans want and, right now, they definitely will not accept him in a negative role. He has always believed in his fans and gone by their sentiments so he will not be taking up this role.” Prior to Yash, it was reported that Hrithik Roshan had been approached for the role of Ravan. However, the actor turned down the offer.

Subsequently, rumours circulated that Yash was collaborating with Malayalam actor and director Geethu Mohandas for a gangster film. However, these reports were not confirmed and remained speculative in nature. Actress Rima Kallingal shared a post regarding this news on her social media, but no official statement was released regarding the alleged project.

The source told same publication, “Narthan’s script was almost locked, but at the time of Shiva Rajkumar’s Bhairathi Ranagal pooja, he said some movie which had the same story line as his story had already been released on OTT. Yash told Narthan to come up with another script now.”

Nitesh Tiwari on multiple occasions has spoken about bringing Ramayan to life with a big-screen adaptation. Bollywood Hungama was among the first to reveal that Nitesh Tiwari and his producers, Madhu Mantena and Allu Arvind were in talks with Ranbir Kapoor for the film.
